Bottega Veneta Woven Bag

Coming from a tropical land, I see woven bags all the time - usually woven out of mengkuang leaves or bamboo. Such bags have a tendency to have an ethnic look around them. But not the Bottega Veneta.

Ever since I saw a picture of the signature Bottega Veneta woven bag online, I knew I’d like it. I had the opportunity to finally see one in real life the last time I was in Singapore. Just as I suspected, the bag was so soft and smooth to the touch, despite the fact it was woven.

The Bottega Veneta woven bag is woven out of strips of nappa leather - the softest leather around. It has a very simple yet classic hobo design and fits beautifully on the shoulder. The bag itself is quite light, to my surprise. I’m so used to branded leather bags weighing a ton. But not this one.

The other thing I like is that there is nothing on the bag that advertises that you are carrying a Bottega Veneta. People either take one look at the bag and know that you are, or they don’t know any better. I love that!

This beauty cost S$4,000 (>RM8,000). OUCH OUCH OUCH!!!

There is no way I am spending close to 10 grand on a bag, no matter how I love bags and no matter how beautiful this one is. So, I’m on the hunt for a look alike. I have seen one for a tiny fraction of the price. I’ll see if I get it and I’ll update when I do!

I like this one too, stood a long time outside Senayan City’s Bottega, just looking and looking. The sales people must have thought I was nuts.

Friend of mine bought a very good look-alike in Singapore last year. Update us on your purchase when you get it, wanna see what it looks like!

Cheesey: I thought I saw one in Isetan. I might take another look and will report back
