Why I don’t like the Botkier Trigger bag
A couple of years ago, I came across a bag by then new designer Botkier. It was called the Trigger bag because of the trigger clasp and looks like the picture here. This shows the back of the bag. The front has 2 slanted zips.
For some reason, I fell in love with the look of the Botkier Trigger. There are 3 compartments. A main zippered compartment, and 2 side compartments with magnetic closures. It is a shoulder bag with tassels as zip pulls.
I pondered a very long time over buying it on ebay but never got round to doing so because it cost over US$450 a bag and I did not want to be saddled with a fake. Then, Botkier was brought into Malaysia under a store called Bella. I happened to see it in KLCC Isetan, and in my excitement, bought the Medium Botkier Trigger in Hunter Green for a price I will not disclose save to say it was expensive.
Not long after that, I realised my folly and what an expensive mistake the Botkier turned out to be.
The bag is too heavy. Its leather and lined with cloth. Even empty, it weighs a ton and puts a strain on my shoulders.
The bag is too bulky. I’m not very tall and this bag looks HUGE on me. It is so bulky I fear carrying it when I purchase delicate items like crystals or crockery because I just might knock something down.
I never thought of putting the Botkier Trigger up for sale because I left Ebay a long time ago and am too lazy to deal with the hassle of Ebay due to the weight of the bag. I’m not sure if there are any consignment stores where I can sell it to or I might consider that. Maybe I should consider selling it here eh?
All that said, its a nice bag. Even for its size it does look good on the shoulder (maybe on someone taller) and the quality of the leather is excellent. It can also fit a ton of stuff, but the toll on my back though isn’t worth it for me, so its been relegated to the back of my closet. All in all, its taught me a lesson not to buy on impulse. An expensive lesson to learn indeed!
