Sporadic updates

Tag: UncategorizedBag Lady @ 4:11 pm

Yes I still love bags but I’ve realised that I’m getting busier than I thought so I apologise for being tardy in updating. I will update as and when I come across a new bag I like or if I think of any tips for storing and keeping bags tidy and in good condition. Overall, I will try to update at least 2 times a week.

I have a few thing spinning around my head but am just too busy to write it. Pity really! Not to fear however, I will update and whilst it may not be with news of the latest bags in town, you will get my view on what I like and what I don’t based on what I see.

Thanks for reading!

Louis Vuitton Valentine’s Day selection

Tag: Louis VuittonBag Lady @ 12:32 pm

Louis Vuitton is cashing in on the upcoming Valentine’s Day hype. If you have someone who can afford to buy you Louis Vuitton bags and accessories, now’s the time to run along down to the LV store and pick out your Valentine’s day gifts!

LV has gone all shiny for Valentine’s Day with its monogram vernis leather. That’s the shiny embossed one that makes me wonder if its leather or patent leather. Patent leather, no matter what its called, is simply synthetic leather - that’s how they get the high shine.

Details aside, I love the deep eggplant purple colour of the vernis leather (Violette). The Sunset Boulevard clutch (top left) caught my eye. I like the design and colour though the monogram puts me off a tad.

The Roxbury Drive bagĀ  (top right) again is a baguette bag that caught my eye for colour rather than design. LV says it can be carried by its strap or by its handle. Personally I think I’d prefer it carried by its handle because it looks a bit awkward carried by the strap.

I liked the red and bronze coloured wallets in vernis leather. However, experience with patent leather on wallets has taught me not to go near it because wallets scratch easily.

And finally, the cute little Heart coin purses. I’d been looking high and low for a nice coin purse for ages. Might this one do it? :) I wonder what the price is like though. Staggering, I’d expect.

Marc Jacobs Sophia bag - so close!

Tag: Marc JacobsBag Lady @ 3:55 pm

A couple of years ago, the Marc Jacobs Sophia bag was all I wanted. I fell in love with the shape and I liked the pockets on the front even if my sis told me they looked like the bag had breasts :P

One day, after Marc Jacobs opened their first store in KLCC, I walked in and lo and behold! There was the Sophia on sale. It was a Sophia in Berry which is a violet shade and a colour I love because its so bright and cheery. The leather is thick but soft and buttery and wonderful to the touch.

The best part is that it was on 30% discount which put it in the region of RM3500. Yes, I know… ouch!! I gave it a thought, walked two rounds around the mall and finally, decided to steel myself and get it. However, upon inspecting the bag closely (if you are going to plonk down RM3500 for a bag you’d better inspect it closely!) I saw that there was a tiny little tear by one of the pockets. Hardly noticable but once you’ve seen it, you’d know its there. The sales assistant could only offer an extra 5% off which wasn’t very much.

I mean, if I was going to pay so much for a designer item, I’d expect to get something perfect, or close to perfect.

So, it was with great regret that I returned the bag. The store did take my number and promise to call if they got another one in stock but they never called. I guess Sophia and I were never meant to be!
